Abstract

This overview contains a summary of the application of public health principles and concepts, which have the potential to improve outcomes for children served in our schools. The public health model focuses on the status of the overall population of children and that most children in need of services do not receive them. Implications for policy, research and the improvement of children in need of services are discussed.
