First Manuscript from Dissertation to be Published for Dr. Claudia Aguado Loi

Claudia Aguado Loi, PhD.Congratulations to Dr. Claudia Aguado Loi on her first manuscript published from her dissertation A Study of Potential Risk Factors of Depression among Latina Breast Cancer Survivors.

Findings from her study will be published in the Journal of Psyco-Oncology. The findings highlight the need for intervention programs to help women normalize emotions and thoughts related to cancer and its treatments, and to improve their cognitive abilities to overcome, accept, and positively reframe cancer and other difficult situations women face throughout the cancer continuum. The importance of family and peer support to improve depressive symptoms was also evident.

Psycho-Oncology is the Official Journal of the International Psycho-Oncology Society, the American Psychosocial Oncology Society and the British Psycho-Oncology Society. It publishes articles concerned with the psychological, social, behavioral, and ethical aspects of cancer, focusing on two major psychological dimensions of cancer: the psychological responses of patients to cancer at all stages of the disease, and that of their families and caretakers; and the psychological, behavioral and social factors that may influence the disease process.
