CFS's Glenda Kilpatrick and Janet Reyes Selected Among Experts Chosen to Enhance Support for USF Faculty Researchers

A USF initiative aimed at enhancing the support of faculty researchers and meeting the challenges of today’s research environment has enlisted the expertise of CFS Associate Director Glenda Kilpatrick and Unit Research Administrator Janet Reyes. They were selected by Vice President for Research and Innovation Dr. Karen Holbrook to serve as delegates to the newly established The Research Administration Improvement Network (TRAIN), a university-wide network of administrative personnel known for their expertise and recognized for their professional commitment to research administration.

“Over the past decade, the research enterprise at USF has tripled, growing from $106 million to over $330 million,” said Dr. Holbrook.  “Concurrently, there has been a dramatic increase in regulations and expectations governing research contracts and grants.”

TRAIN workgroups will be formed to focus on areas of information exchange, education and training, research reporting, business process improvement, and other activities that support faculty research, scholarship, and artistic endeavors.

Kilpatrick and Reyes currently oversee the administration of the current 81 projects in CFS, representing nearly 17 million dollars from a variety of federal, state and local funders.

“Glenda and Janet will provide invaluable input to the TRAIN efforts,” said CFS Department Chair Dr. Mario Hernandez. “They are both in constant contact with the USF Research Administration and know first hand the complexities involved with managing contracts and grants.
