CFS Chair Robert Friedman Serves As Panelist at Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum

CFS Chair Robert Friedman was a panelist at the recent Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum, held every May in Atlanta for Georgia’s mental health organizations.

The Forum has addressed such topics as "Children's Mental Health: Generating Hope through Shared Responsibility," "Improving Access for Georgians," and "Recovery: A Journey for Life." This year’s topic, Measuring Performance: A Leadership Forum, included a panel discussion: National Best Practices and Models, which Friedman was a participant.

“I was pleased that the conference focused on performance measurement,” said Friedman. “If systems of care are to be effective, we have to develop performance measurement systems that are informative and of practical use in improving the system. In my presentation, I relied heavily on the work that Mario Hernandez, Sharon Hodges, and Angela Gomez have done on theories of change, the ecology of outcomes, and the system of care practice review.”

According to the Carter Center, their Mental Health Program works to combat stigma against people with mental illness; foster development of mental health services for children and families; promote access to quality mental health care; and raise awareness of mental health issues worldwide. The program hosts an annual national symposium and statewide forum to encourage mental health organizations to coordinate efforts and facilitate advancements in the field.
