The 39-credit hour Fully Online Master's in Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health Program equips students to work in a non-clinical capacity at public and nonprofit organizations in positions as supervisors, mental health case managers, and consultants, to name a few. After completing their core coursework, master's students are eligible to take the comprehensive exam. All students must pass a comprehensive exam in order to graduate from the program. Full-time students typically take two years to complete the degree, while part-time students can graduate in three.
Distance learners may choose between a thesis or non-thesis field work track. Field experience consists of a total of 270 hours: 200 hours working at an agency or organization and 70 hours working on their proposal/project. While working, students complete a research project and summarize their findings in a final report. The CABH program consists of four focus areas of study: developmental disabilities, leadership in child and adolescent behavioral health, research and evaluation, and youth and behavioral health.
Applicants must submit their undergraduate transcripts and hold a minimum 3.0 GPA. Those applying for the thesis track must send GRE scores and will need at least a 153 verbal score and a 144 quantitative score. Applicants should also submit three letters of recommendation, a resume/vita, a one-page essay concerning their professional goals, and a writing sample. USF holds accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
