Conn Memorial Foundation Honors CFS Chair Dr. Mario Hernandez for Service to the Board
CFS Department Chair Dr. Mario Hernandez was recently honored for his six years of service as a Board Member of the Conn Memorial Foundation. The Foundation provides leadership and grants to Hillsborough County’s nonprofits that focus on the educational achievement of children and youth in low-income neighborhoods, as well as supporting the development of leaders who work in the nonprofit world.
In Dr. Hernandez’s honor, the Conn Foundation provided a special $5,000 gift to Success 4 Kids & Families (S4KF), a non-profit organization chosen by Dr. Hernandez. Since 2005, S4KF has been offering treatment services and case management for families with children who experience problems across multiple areas such as at school, at home or even with the law. Services through S4KF include assistance for substance abuse, depression, mental and behavioral health, learning difficulties, anger management, bullying, problems at school, as well as pre-natal and post-natal services. S4KF has been a consistent and reliable research and training partner with CFS for many years.
Dr. Hernandez was presented with a plaque of appreciation for his service, inscribed with a Henry Ward Beecher quote:
“We should so live and labor in our times that what came to us as seed may to to the next generation as blossom, and what came to us as blossom may go to them as fruit. This expresses the true spirit in the love of mankind.”
“Mario has been a valued member of our board and has brought thoughtful expertise to our process over his many years of devoted service,” said Conn Foundation President Sheff Crowder. “We are proud to honor him in this way are are delighted that he chose Success 4 Kinds & Families as the recipient.”
