CFS Department Chair Mario Hernandez, PhD has been appointed to serve on the board of the Conn Memorial Foundation. The Foundation was established over fifty years ago by businessman and philanthropist Fred K. Conn. Today, the Foundation Board is made up of local community leaders who maintain a commitment to the vision of Fred K. Conn and his legacy of caring for the children of Tampa.

“Dr. Hernandez has great insight into the needs of our local Hispanic community as well as national expertise in working with systems of care for low income youth and program evaluation,” said Sheff Crowder, president of the Conn Foundation.

The Foundation provides community leadership, capacity building and funding assistance to nonprofit social service and educational programs and organizations serving economically and environmentally challenged children and their families.

“We look forward to his contribution in our work with low income youth and their families in Tampa, as well as his guidance in connecting the University of South Florida to work being done by so many in this area within our community,” added Crowder.
