FCIC Serves as Partner of 2016 ADA Disability Awareness Day

The Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC) recently partnered with organizations throughout Hillsborough county to plan an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Disability Awareness Day Expo that took place at the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) on July 23, 2016. Representatives included the Hillsborough County Alliance for Citizens with Disabilities, a community coalition serving as an advisory group to the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.

The expo, entitled “ADA Next 25 years,” provided discount admission to MOSI for the day while community resources were exhibited to promote inclusion of citizens with disabilities. County commissioners presented awards for outstanding community service.

FCIC helped in organizing the program and scheduling the activities, as well as recruiting talent for programs, workshop facilitation, entertainment, 2016 USF Young Innovators, and volunteers who assisted throughout the day. FCIC also served on the Award committee and helped with much of the graphic design for certificates, posters, and directional signage.
