CFS and Florida Center for Inclusive Communities's (FCIC) staff featured prominently in Tampa Mayor’s Alliance Awards Ceremony

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn presented four awards during the 27th Mayor’s Alliance for Persons with Disabilities Awards Luncheon on Friday, October 16, 2015.

The annual event was emceed by local televison/radio celebrity, Jack Harris, and the keynote speaker was FCIC's Associate Director Dr. Liz Perkins. FCIC's Employment Services Coordinator, Brenda Clark currently serves as the Alliance's Treasurer, and was the nominator of one of the award recipients Chatequa Pinkston. About the Alliance

The Mayor's Alliance for Persons with Disabilities, under the auspices of the City of Tampa Mayor's Office, serves as an advisory/advocacy group in order to represent the interests of persons with disabilities in obtaining an independent and fulfilling life. Organized by the Mayor's Office in September 1986, the City of Tampa was the first Florida city to establish a Mayor's Alliance. Since, more than 300 persons from businesses, government, and the private sector have volunteered to forge the Mayor's Alliance. Through the years, they have played an active part in different activities and issues that impact the community of people with disabilities. For more information, visit:

FCIC was established in October 2005 through a University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service grant award from the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Through leadership in research and evaluation, capacity building, training, and practice the FCIC is committed to developing a range of supports and services in the areas of Community Supports, Early Childhood, Education, Employment, Health, and Interdisciplinary Training.

FCIC is a member of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD). AUCD is a national network of interdisciplinary centers advancing policy and practice through research, education, leadership and services for and with individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families and communities.
